Gardening is not an activity meant for the outdoor alone. Indoor gardening would mean the activity of planting those varieties that would have sustained growth in flower pots. They add beauty to the room as well provide for a healthy atmosphere within the room. Indoor gardening is known to have a substantial reducing effect on pollution as well as cleansing the room from obnoxious gasses, along with providing a soothing and calming effect to the eyes.

There is however issues that need to be borne in mind while deciding to opt for indoor gardening. One of the most important aspects is the selection of the plant that can be grown indoors. There are certain species of plants that are poisonous even though they appear to be very attractive by looks. Such plants specially should be avoided in houses that have small children. There are plants too that cause allergy, or their pollen causes such medical problems upon some individuals. Knowledge about such plants is to be gathered prior to deciding on the plant that is to be grown.

Once the plant has been decided, the next issue that needs to be addressed is the place for positioning the pot containing the plant, after all, you wouldn’t want to live in a storage space would you? Some plants cannot sustain continuous sunlight while others thrive on it. Window sills are the best place to locate plants that need sunlight, while close to the window yet not in direct path of the light source is the best place for plants that cannot sustain continuous sunlight.

Some plants have their leaves turning pale when exposed to the direct light from sun and yet the plant requires sunlight. Such cases could be placed close to the window with a curtain drawn across it.

It is but little care and some sense of selection that one requires to grow and mend a healthy happy indoor garden.
